Every week in my magazine First Bass And Beyond there are TWO video tutorials amongst the content. This week the tutorials were Rhiannon by Fleetwood Mac and a deliberate practice tutorial of I Can’t Stand Up For Falling Down by Elvis Costello.
Here’s a sample from the Rhiannon tutorial. This is the verse section played slowly with a chordal metronome:
This is 1/10th of the actual tutorial, as in that tutorial there are video sections for the intro, the verse, the first time through the ‘chorus, the second time through the ‘chorus, and the guitar solo. Each of those sections are played at performance tempo with a soundalong backing track (which is available to download) and then with a chordal metronome as you just saw.
As well as notation and tab in the magazine itself, each section has the notation and tab before it so you can really focus on learning that section. It looks a bit like this:
Rhiannon Song Facts
Rhiannon was written by Stevie Nicks and featured on the self-titled album that Fleetwood Mac released in 1975.
The bass player – of course! – is John McVie.
