Here’s a great little playalong of the version of Get It On by The Power Station. In the intro, the creator says he feels that the main bass line was in fact played by Bernard Edwards and not John Taylor – and it was done with Bernard’s signature ‘chucking’ style.’
Whoever played it, it’s an interesting line with the downbeat hardly ever played on – and that concept probably came from Bernard. I transcribed it for this week’s issue of First Bass And Beyond
