Stand By Me is another beginner’s bass line that’s comprised of just one secton that’s repeated over and over throughout the tune.
This section is 8 bars long. I think it was originally played on double bass so if you’ve got a bass with flatwounds that might be the one to use on this – also think about just making the second note in each pattern a little bit shorter than notated out.
I class this as a Level 3/4 bass line (mainly because of the placement of the second note in each bar). (The scale I use is 1 to 10 – a Level 1 bass line might be a predominantly half note ballad kind of line like Imagine and a Level 10 line would be an uptempo 8th note based line like I Saw Her Standing There or Shake A Tailfeather).
