Thanks for posting, I love Duck Dunn.
You and me both – and lots of others too. Someone once asked me what I thought Duck’s greatest skill was – my answer was that he had the knack of creating relatively simple lines that functioned perfectly and delivered them with great time. I got to see him play live in the late 80s with Eddie Floyd and the BLues Brothers….as far as live shows go it’s one of my favourite memories (along with the first time I saw Rocco and Tower of Power).
Hey Paul,
I hope this meants that you are about to release your 30 day Duck Dunn challenge. If so I’m in.
JMc
PS: Love this tune.
My lips are sealed John 😉 (wait for Friday!)
Some self-styled pundit on one of the bass player boards once posted that there was “no money above the fifth fret.” Among others, Duck (coincidentally my nick name too) disproved that theory a LOT.
Bill Wyman’s minimalist playing was influenced by Duck who always seemed to know which notes to play and, more importantly, when to rest.
I’ve always liked Duck’s playing!
Great.
Thanks
No worries.
