Pino Palladino Sight Reading Etude 2 (For Bass)

December 15, 2022 by Paul Wolfe

Here’s the video of Pino Palladino Sight Reading Etude 2 – this is a 16th note, uptempo blues rock kind of line. This is a two chorus etude using the blues format but using Hendrix Chords – so G7#9 and C7#9 – for a different flavour. The first chorus is a ‘verse’ and the second chorus is a ‘solo.’

The bass line was generated in Band In A Box using a custom style created by me. That’s part of the bonus package that goes with my latest book 80-20 Bass: Pino Palladino Style Grooves.

Here’s the video:

Here’s the one page PDF you can print out and test out your sight reading chops:

When I first joined you said courses are also in tab notation. I don’t read standard music notation so this means nothing to me.

      Hey thomas

Everything I do has tab – EXCEPT for sight reading etudes. Which are obviously designed expressely for students to practice their sight reading. (As there is a dearth of good, reall world sight reading material out there in the bass world).

If sight reading is not something you’re interested in, you can safely ignore this.
