An Overview Of The 50 Songs Sequence

I've talked about the 50 Song Sequence in the 'How To Play Bass In 50 Songs' Program. But I want to show selected excerpts of it to you so you don't just have a vague mental understanding of it, but so you grasp it in concrete detail.
First, here's a clip from Song 1 (and this is super-easy!):
I'm sure most of you watching would not feel that presented any challenges. How about this, which is the first section of Song 50 which is called "STANDING THERE BLUES" and is an uptempo 8th note belter that cycles through C, Db, D and Eb! Here's the first section:
If you think that's not much of a challenge...you can close this page and go about your day.
What I want to do now is go back and give you clips from Songs 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 35 and 45 so you can piece together in your head an idea of the progression through the course. Song 5 is called BAD MOON FALLING and has a vaguely, country 2 beat feel:
OK onto Song 10. Which is called ROCK AND ROLL WOMAN. This has a quarter note feel and a tempo of 100 BPM....so you can see the progression from Song 5. Here it is:
OK onto Song 15 is up next. This is still a moderate tempo - it's called DIRE STRAITS STYLE BALLAD - but the rhythmic requirements of the bass line are now dotted quarter note plus 8th note. And you should note as we go through the overview of the sequence that the bass lines use more vocabulary units (devices):
Song 20 is up next. This practice song is called DOORS STYLE ROCKER and the tempo has gone up, and so has the rhythmic execution being used in the bass line. Check it out:
Song 25 is next. This is called HALF A ROCKER and the tempo has gone up to 130 BPM and the rhythm used is a quarter note plus two 8th notes. If you compare this to Song 1 you'll see how far we've come (but if you look back to Song 20 you can envisage moving from 20 to 25 with the right amount of practice!)
Song 30 is next up. This is a G7 ROCK BLUES and is more sophisticated than the preceding songs as it draws on a wider vocabulary to make up the composed bass line:
Song 35 is next. This is FIRST DAY and the bass line is designed to work on consistent 8th note plucking and fretting hand co-ordination:
Song 40 is next. This is called SNOW BOY and is a 150 BPM rocker...again it's a test of plucking hand fluency!
Song 45 is next. This is called STAX SOUL SMILE and it was composed to test out your execution of syncopated and anticipated 8th note rhythms:
That should give you a really good overview of how the song sequence works to support the learning from beginner to low level intermediate!
