Video Lesson – Brown Sugar

May 5, 2015 by Paul Wolfe

Here’s a video showing how to play bass to Brown Sugar by The Rolling Stones:

This version of Brown Sugar has essentially got five sections to look at.

There’s the Intro, the Verse, The Chorus, the Interlude and the Outro.

Here’s a quick road map:

Intro

Verse

Chorus

Interlude – 4 bars played once

Verse 2

Chorus 2

Sax Solo – Interlude – 4 bars played FOUR times

Verse 3

Chorus

Outro

In the video I’m going to show you a version of the bass line that will work for most cover band’s version of the tune – Bill Wyman’s actual line is much subtler than you think. (As is Bill Wyman’s bass playing).
